I'm sorry, Ellie, but I no longer have the pattern, and don't recall having run into this problem. I'd simply do whatever you think will give you the best result in the end, and go with that, no matter what the instructions say. Sometimes you just have to wing it!

I am currently making the Diva bag and I have ran into an issue with Step # 10. It states for you to place OP-A over main fabric piece with handles and cell phone pocket. Main fabric piece A is 9X9 1/4 inches and OP-A is 8X9 inches. This will make a tuck at the bottom of Main A fabric and will not be wide enough to cover when you are attaching to piece C. I have read and reread the instructions and still come up with this issue. I have emailed Lynndi Enright for clarification but have not received a response yet. Do you have any information that may help? This may be correct but not making sense to me at all.

I'd be glad to, Judy -- as long as I can find the pattern! I've emailed you separately; I'll let you know when I locate the directions.

I made this wonderful bag a few years ago. My mother had a caregiver that moved to Australia, she had loved my bag so I gave it to her as a going away gift. I decided to make another one for myself recently and found I did not have the instruction page in my pattern package. I have looked high and low and can not find it. Would you be so kind as to share the instructions with me?

Gratefully

Forgot to say that my friend (here in Scotland) also suggested inserting one of those magnetic metal poppers (well I guess it's a pair really) in the semicircular pieces before you join them into the bag. Works a treat.

If you make the strips the width oif the fabric instead of cutting off the length suggested in the pattern, it's much more comfortable on you shoulder (i.e. 42" or thereabouts). Thanks for the usggestion about folding the mesh base. A great bag - have made two, one as a gift and one to keep.

I just ran across your web site while I was searching for the diva essential designer bag pattern. Love the bag, love how you made it, just can't find it anywhere locally, and found 2 places where it is out of stock. Must be a very popular bag!

I feel pretty much the same way. This bag has a lot of great features, but its square shape is not one of them. If I make it again, I'll narrow the base and make it rectangular. The challenge was great, though!

I took a class to make this bag, and while I found the class very helpful and the teacher great, I really did better when I worked on it alone at home. the instructor did work out many things that helped me get through tough areas, though.

The only problem I had was trying to figure out what to do when joining the wings and the base of the outside. I know there was to be a foldover of fabric, but I just couldn't get it. I guess I'm right, after looking at the pics at this site. It was just confusing to me. After all the work I did on it, I'm not sure I'm in love with this bag I'll have to admit. It's too boxy and I travel with a very sturdy canvas bag from Land's End that is just the ticket. Oh well. I may make another of these, I don't know for sure.
